[Hexing/Cursing Information]
a list of hexes used in fire emblem: awakening
"Dark thaumaturgy not based on this world's elemental forms."
-- Animal Transformation
(Henry/Miriel C; Henry offers to turn the Avatar into a toad1). Miriel persuades him otherwise. Apart from the spell lasting "a few days at the most" no other information is known.)
(Tharja/Vaike B; Tharja threatens to turn him into a toad. No other details given.)
(Tharja/Kellam B-A; Tharja threatens to turn him into a newt. No other details given.)
-- Body Switching
(Henry/Sumia A-S; Henry switches bodies with Sumia. Apart from needing some time to set up, nothing about the ritual is known. Henry could somehow dispell it from Sumia's body, despite previously pointing out that she has no magical ability (though in some classes she can use staves, so maybe there's a tiny bit? Or dispelling requires something else.).)
-- Death
(Henry/Sully C-B; effectiveness is based on willpower, requirements are as simple as a strand of hair from the victim, and an unnamed ritual. "Weaker" (non-fatal) hexes are completely ineffective against a strong-willed target.)
(Henry/Miriel C; kills a snake about to land on Miriel, without harming her. Casting is instantaneous, without preparation.)
(Henry/Miriel B; mentions killing 100 people with a single curse. When pressed for more information, Henry claims to not remember much about it.)
(Henry/Maribelle B; a kinder variation. When cast, it only kills the person at the moment they become mortally wounded, saving them the pain of a lingering death. Can apparently be cast with minimal preparation.)
(Henry/Panne A; offers to curse Chrom to death, as well as anyone else Panne wanted. Panne refuses.)
(Henry/Tharja C, S; offers to kill anyone in camp (bloodily). Later, offers Tharja a bouquet of flowers, and when she's unimpressed, reduces them to dead twigs, thinking she'd like that better. Also offers to murder the entire camp if it would make her happy.)
(Henry/Olivia A; when Olivia is afflicted by a sudden death curse from an unknown assailant, Henry dispells it immediately.)
-- Death Prediction
(Henry/Lucina Drama CD; Henry predicts the imminent death of her friends. It's possible that it could be used to predict non-deadly events as well, as he only really says that sometimes dark mages can "sense things." It's also possible he was Making Shit Up to get Lucina to allow him to come along.)
-- Emotion Creation
(Tharja/Ricken A; Ricken uses a happiness-contagion hex on Tharja, after being given permission to practice hexing on her. Requires unnamed materials and other preparation.)
(Tharja/Gaius B; attempts to cast something unpleasant on Gaius, but it turned into a mood-and-health enhancer. Requires various animal components.)
(Tharja/Gaius A-S; uses a curse to make Gaius see her good side. Possibly worked, required an antidote, though Gaius falls for her anyway. Other requirements unknown.)
(Tharja/Libra S; threatens to 'plant a seed of terror' in Libra's heart, when he asks her to take a look into it. Other details unknown.)
-- Emotion Removal
(Henry/Cordelia B; after seeing Cordelia depressed, Henry offers to take out the unrequited love she was suffering from. Though tempted, Cordelia turns him down. Can apparently be cast with no prepwork, apart from knowing the name of the person the love is directed at.)
(Tharja/Lon'qu B-A; offers to remove Lon'qu's crippling fear of women. Doing so required knowledge of Lon'qu's background, and as it was a well-rooted fear, removing it would also remove the entirety of his childhood memories. He turns it down. The hex itself requires some sort of ritual, as well as spell components (bat wings, in this case).)
-- Hypnotism
(Tharja/Virion C-B; uses curses to order Virion to do multiple things (believe he is a cat, fall asleep, build a bridge, repair the barracks, cook a meal). However, Virion later reveals he was aware the entire time and did everything voluntarily.)
-- Illness
(Tharja/Frederick B; claims to have caused Frederick's cold with a hex to try and get him to leave her alone (though she privately admits that she had nothing to do with it).)
(Tharja/Donnel A; cures a cold that was plaguing the army by cursing it out. Can be done secretively, without anyone knowing who cast it. Works by hexing the illness instead of the person. Other requirements unknown.)
(Noire/Fathers C-B; Tharja curses Noire to have a runny nose for three days straight. The Father, when going to Tharja to ask her to break it, ends up with a five-day runny nose curse (and in the past, have had their eyeballs cursed to cry). Other details are unknown.)
-- Illusion
(Henry/Nowi B-A; Henry summons an illusionary manakete as a playmate for Nowi. It's incapable of speaking or being touched, and really is just an illusion. Takes a lot of time and effort to create, though the specifics aren't mentioned.)
-- Invisibility
(Tharja/Frederick A; a curse to make herself invisible to Frederick and no one else. Frederick was still able to sense someone's presence in battle, and shielded her on instinct. Other details are unknown.)
(Tharja/Kellam S; makes herself invisible in order to sneak up on Kellam. Apparently "modified" from another spell. Other details are unknown.)
-- Item Creation
(Tharja/Donnel S; creates an object (in this case, two wedding rings) from an assortment of unnamed supplies. Requires some degree of effort.)
-- Life Creation
(Henry/Miriel A-S; deciding that pregnancy is a silly thing, Henry decides to create life through hexes instead. It doesn't work.)
-- Luck/Misfortune
(Tharja/Kellam S; capable of cursing objects to protect the wearer from bad luck. Created a whole lot of them, other details unknown.)
-- Memory Transformation
(Tharja/Libra C-A; potentially has the ability to take someone's memory and change it to something else. It seems that the more powerful the original memory, the more difficult it is to change. In the process, the caster is able to witness a person's memories.)
-- Necromancy
(Henry/Avatar B; attempts to summon an army of Risen. They cannot be controlled, and simply attack anything alive in the vicinity. Requires at least a magic sigil to be drawn (after Henry previously researched the bodies of fallen Risen, to understand how they functioned).)
-- Odor
(Tharja/Frederick C; while spying on the Avatar training with Frederick, Tharja considers casting a stench curse on him/her, to make sure no one else could stand to be around them. Other details are unknown.)
-- Personality Change
(Noire in general; future!Tharja cursed an amulet and gave it to Noire, which unlocks a very loud, confident, bloodthirsty side to her. Noire clings to it when she's afraid or stressed (which is most of the time). The effect never seems to last for very long ("BLOOD AND THUNDER! WHERE IS MY GOLD, AND WHERE IS THE WRETCH WHO TOOK IT?...WHAT? WAS IT YOU? YOU LOOK...kind of strong, actually...Too strong for me to beat...Oh, I'll never get my money back, will I?").)
-- Retribution
(Noire/Father relationship tile; training conversation, Noire warns that any injury inflicted on her will activate her mother's curse, and they'll receive the same injury in return. No other details.)
-- Silence
(Tharja/Gregor B; threatens to inflict permanent silence on him. Seems to imply actual silence and not death. Unfortunately, Gregor is immune to her curses.)
-- Sleeping
(Henry/Lissa B; puts target in a dreamless, restful sleep. Requirements are some kind of living sacrifice (Henry used birds). Can apparently be increased to a fatal variation.)
-- Speak with Dead
(Tharja/Gregor B-A; Tharja summons the spirit of Gregor's dead brother... Gregor. The deceased's voice speaks in their own voice through the caster, and is able to carry on a conversation. The ritual requires a lot of materials and energy, as the caster temporarily hosts the soul of the dead.)
-- Time Reversal
(Henry/Sumia C; broken bowls are repaired by reversing time on them. Casting is instantaneous, without preparation. The effect isn't permanent (said bowls would resume being broken the next day). Henry mentions casting it on people to force them to experience a horrible event repeatedly- so the curse can presumably not only reverse time and hold it there (for a while), but play it over several times.)
-- Truth
(Henry/Tharja B; Tharja casts a spell that forces Henry to tell the truth, with death as a consequence for any lies. Could be cast without any mentioned prepwork (beyond the small verbal component). Wears off eventually.)
(Tharja/Stahl B; same hex as above, but requires the victim's hair (which she previously convinced Stahl to give her).)
-- Voice Projection
(Henry/Lucina Drama CD; projects the voice of the one the target most wants to hear. Henry causes others to hear the voice of the Avatar give them words of encouragement (despite never having met the Avatar at this point). It's unknown whether Lucina was providing the actual speech, and the magic made her sound like whoever the target wanted to hear- but that explanation would make the most sense.)
-- Miscellaneous/Unspecified
(Henry/Miriel B; Henry was apparently casting various hexes all over the army until he was asked to stop by the Avatar. Miriel is disappointed. What the hexes did isn't mentioned.)
(Henry/Tharja A; Tharja is afflicted by an unnamed curse that she's unable to lift on her own. Henry dispells it immediately (and sends it back to the original caster). When Tharja points out he could've deflected her earlier truth-hex, Henry offers that he didn't need to, as he had nothing to hide.)
(Henry/Mostofhiskids; often threatens to curse them for one thing or another (especially Gerome). With Morgan, mentions a curse to restore his memories of him, but decides against it (as it would probably be fatal).)
(Henry/Mostofhiskids 'Future Past' DLC; many of them ask if he'd resurrected himself with some kind of forbidden hex. (Un?)Fortunately, he doesn't know of any such spell.)
(Tharja/Donnel C-B; Tharja orders (without a curse) him to collect various hex components including: newt eyes, a white sow's tail, bats, venomous black snakes. Donnel does all this voluntarily because it was common practice in his village for everyone to help out collecting supplies for mage curses, as said curses would be used to protect the village.)
(Tharja/Noire C-A; despite immense potential, and the ability to use regular dark magic, Noire is completely unable to cast a single hex. Noire is able to copy the motions precisely, to no effect. Tharja attempts to try and rectify this, but decides in the end to keep things as they are- as hexing can be a dangerous art, and she wants to spare her daughter the risk.2)

Curse/Magic Notes
--- "Hex casting is the art of unleashing magic through a series of movements. It is the ritual that grants efficacy, rather than tomes or staves." - Miriel
--- "A victim of a curse enters a trance state with no memory or awareness of his actions." - Tharja (presumably referring to curses which order someone to perform a task)
--- "Nothing is more intimate than having a hex cast upon you. The spell creates a bond between the mage and victim—a resonance of souls." - Tharja
--- "Once you know someone's secret pain curses become a bit too easy." - Tharja
--- Tharja can practice divination. When she was checking on Kellam's family, it's possible she was using something like this, instead of a hex. She also used it to look for Nowi's family (manakete talon clippings are also a fantastic material, apparently).
--- potion brewing is also possible (Tharja was making a love one)
--- Tharja's hexes apparently don't work on Gregor whatsoever (he claims it's because he "only hears what he wants." It's actually because Gregor is his brother's name and not his own, and hexes don't work without knowing the true name of the target3.).
--- Tharja's hexes also don't work on Virion (possibly illustrating that he has far more willpower than he seems)
--- Tharja comments that personal darkness can power curses (possible explanation for why Henry's ability is considered exceptional?)
1I think, in the Japanese version, he offered death curses instead. In either case, Miriel is like "please don't."
2 If willpower really is a persistent factor in cursing, Noire's easily-spooked and frightened nature might make it impossible for her to impose her will on another (her other personality might have more success?).
3 Which wouldn't explain how just-about-all death curses function.

Ricken: Really? You'll teach me?
Tharja: ...No. But I'll tell you why I CAN'T teach you. My own powers are not fully developed, so I'm in no position to instruct anyone.
Ricken: Oh. ...Wait, really?
Tharja: Just because I'm a powerful dark mage doesn't mean my training in complete. I have many hexes yet to learn, and even the ones I know don't always work.
Ricken: When it comes to cursing, you're awfully conscientious.
Tharja: The hexing arts are a capricious master, and I do not like mistakes.
Ricken: But if you're afraid of slipping up, how can you learn new things? Everyone knows the best way to learn is to just do it and see what happens.
Tharja: That seems like a rather dangerous attitude for a mage. Although... Hmm... That actually might be fun... All right. I'm going to start experimenting with new and unknown magic. I'll go out to the woods alone and cast every curse and hex I've ever heard of! ...Hee.
Tharja/Ricken A
Ricken: I was actually kind of surprised someone invented nice curses. I thought they were all scary and cruel and just turned people into weasels.
Tharja: Don't be fooled by the name. Curses are a kind of magic that gives life to dreams. Whether it is a dream of joy or horror depends very much on the victim.
